I Firmly Reject ABC's "Proposal"

You can imagine my excitement when I saw a commercial for "The Proposal," a new summer dating show on ABC. "The Proposal" is a godsend for singles who don't have 8-10 weeks to fall in love on "The Bachelor." Rather, two people go from complete strangers to engaged within an hour. And what's more: One of the people is hidden in a pod and can't be seen until the very end. It's a real-life fairy tale romance!

I sat down on the couch, armed with a pen, notepad, and low expectations.

Let's get to the highlights!

I'm Pessimistic that Anyone Will Find True Love on "Bachelor in Paradise"

This week marked the debut of "Bachelor in Paradise," the latest spin-off in the "Bachelor" franchise. The description on the DVR read:

"Stars and villains return for a second chance at finding love in an isolated, romantic paradise in Mexico."

I tip my hat to ABC for openly admitting that villains will be participating in this exercise. Will the villains identify themselves as such? We'll find out as we get to the highlights!

"Bachelorette" Update: The Final Three Head to Curacao!

This was originally written on July 12, 2012.

Well it was down to the final three on "The Bachelorette" this week, and that can only mean one thing: A final round of dates - including the Fantasy Suite option - for the remaining contestants. And yes, I do think of them as contestants.

The crew headed off to Curacao, which is known mostly for Little League baseball. But as they showed the gorgeous water and beautiful beaches, a somber Emily reminds the camera that she's "in love with more than one person."

"Bachelor" Analysis: The Crew Heads to Switzerland

This review was originally written on February 28, 2012.

We were down to the final three on this week's episode of "The Bachelor," and that can only mean one thing: Overnight dates! This is usually the best week of the show, if only to watch the women convince themselves that they should stay in the Fantasy Suite "to get to know him better." I am sure they all bonded over a thrilling game of Battleship.

Ok, let's get to the recap!

- The episode starts out with Ben getting on a plane to Switzerland. In the last month, the show has taken him and the girls to Puerto Rico, Panama, Belize, and now Switzerland. It's going to be a shock to the girl who wins that in the future, weekends consist of dinner at Applebee's. "Come on, Ben, you USED to take me all over the world..."

Thoughts on the Dramatic "Bachelor" Finale

This was originally written on March 14, 2013.

The "Bachelor" wrapped up its 17th season on Monday, and as expected, the finale was a absolute trainwreck. Before I even turned it on, I asked Maria if she wanted to watch the "Bachelor" finale or an episode of "Castle." She was already tired and said, "I want something where I don't have to pay attention." Ok, "Bachelor" it is!

Let's get to the highlights:

- Sean starts out by assuring the viewers that he didn't know "it would be this hard." I don't know if you've heard, but he's in love with two different women. This moment can only be captured by soft music and wide-angle shots of him pondering into the distance. We're off to a nice, cliché-filled start.
