Scooby Doo Basketball Chaos

Blessings to a 1982 episode of “Scooby Doo” (featuring Scrappy) in which Shaggy and Scooby are playing in a rec basketball tournament. The team they're playing against has a special computer in the rec hall basement that controls electronic sneakers worn by their players. Those special sneakers allow their players to jump high and run really fast. Thanks to this cheating, they can fly around the court and easily block any shot that comes their way.

How is this not goaltending by the other team??? Come on, referee!!

At halftime, the bad guys are winning 68-0, and it seems like all is lost for Shaggy’s team.

During halftime, Scooby, Shaggy, and Scrappy discover what’s going on in the basement, and while posing as janitors, they're able to get control of the supercomputer. Then, Shaggy and Scooby put on special shoes, and THEY are able to run and jump really fast. With Scrappy in control of the computer for the second half, Shaggy’s team makes a frantic comeback and scores 68 straight points.

To score all these points, Scooby Doo took the ball and just kept slam dunking it over and over again. Don't you have to let the other team inbound after a basket?? This should be a technical foul and multi-game suspension. Again, come on referees – get control of the game!

With the score tied at 68, the computer breaks, and everyone on the court has to play legitimate basketball for once. Scooby Doo gets up on Shaggy’s shoulders and blocks a shot from the other team. They then run down the court and score a basket at the buzzer for a 70-68 win. The game really was a tale of two halves!

This was quite the ruse by the other team to cheat….at a rec league basketball game.

At the end, Scrappy says that “cheaters never prosper.” In fairness, Scrappy, YOUR TEAM was cheating in the second half. I guess the lesson here is, “If the other team cheats in the first half, then cheat back in the second half to even it all out.”

Rut-row!
